Voltaire Cycles sells environmentally friendly electric powered bikes, trikes, specialty bikes, and scooters. Electric bikes (E-bikes) are equipped with electric motors that enable riders to commute longer distances, and transport heavier loads via trailers or baskets reducing their reliance on cars, trucks and other carbon intensive forms of transportation.
Waste
Waste Reduction Practices
Voltaire Cycles is committed to waste reduction and proper recycling of reusable waste. We wash and reuses cloth rags for in store cleaning, bike assembly and repairs. This significantly cuts back on the amount of trash produced in house.
Waste Recycling
Voltaire Cycles recycles cardboard, glass, paper and plastics. On average they recycle 1,200+ pounds of cardboard every year. 200
Energy
Energy Efficiency Measures
Voltaire Cycles utilizes energy efficient LED lighting throughout the store. We currently have 72 LED lights bulbs installed and are actively replacing the remaining incandescent lighting once they burn out to LED light bulbs. On average this has reduced our energy use by 1,560 kWh per year, and saved $265.20 per year. MONEY SAVED: $265

Electric Spokes is a sponsor of the Newark, NJ “Girls on Bikes” program, which teaches children how to build/assemble bikes. Electric Spokes has also participated in the Verona Green Fair, and has worked with local schools to teach kids about how to become an entrepreneur.
